Danggui Recipes

Danggui, known as the "Sacred Herb for Women's Health," has been highly regarded by generations of Chinese medical and pharmaceutical experts. Below, the editor introduces several health-preserving methods using Danggui.

Health Recipe

1.Danggui Chicken Soup:

Ingredients: Danggui 20g, Chicken (preferably free-range) 500g, Ginger 10g, Red Dates (Jujubes) 5-6, Goji Berries (Wolfberries) 10g, Salt to taste.

Method: Clean the chicken and cut it into pieces. Blanch the chicken briefly in boiling water and rinse. In a pot, add water and bring to a boil. Add the chicken, Danggui, ginger, red dates, and goji berries. Simmer over low heat for 1-2 hours. Add salt to taste before serving.

Effect: This nourishing soup helps to replenish blood and improve blood circulation.

 

2.Danggui and Longan Tea:

Ingredients: Danggui 20g, Dried Longan 10g, Brown Sugar to taste.

Method: Boil Danggui and dried longan in water for about 30 minutes. Add brown sugar to taste and stir until dissolved. Strain and serve.

Effect: This tea is beneficial for nourishing blood and promoting relaxation. It's often enjoyed by women to support menstrual health.

3.Danggui Walnut Porridge:

Ingredients: Danggui 10g, Walnuts 50g, Rice 100g, Rock Sugar to taste.

Method: Cook Danggui and rice together until the rice is soft and porridge-like. Crush the walnuts and add them to the porridge. Add rock sugar to taste.

Effect: This porridge is known for its blood-nourishing and energy-boosting properties.

 

4.Danggui Ginger Tea:

Ingredients: Danggui20g, Fresh Ginger 10g, Honey to taste.

Method: Boil Danggui and ginger in water for about 20-30 minutes. Add honey to taste before serving.

Effect: This tea is commonly used to alleviate menstrual discomfort and promote blood circulation.

 

5.Danggui Blood-Nourishing Porridge

Method: Prepare 10g of Danggui, 50g of Astragalus (Huangqi), and 100g of glutinous rice. Simmer Danggui and Astragalus in water for 30 minutes, strain, and then add glutinous rice to cook into porridge.

Effect: Dispels cold, relieves pain, nourishes blood, and regulates menstruation. Suitable for all beauty-conscious ladies.

 

6.Danggui Ginger Lamb Soup

Method: Take 500g of lamb, 20g of Danggui, 10g of ginger, a pinch of pepper, and an appropriate amount of salt. Cut the lamb into chunks, wash and blanch; bring water to a boil in a pot, add all ingredients, simmer on low heat for 1-2 hours until the lamb is tender, then season to taste.

Effect: Warms the meridians, nourishes blood. Suitable for ladies with premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea.

7.Danggui Egg and Brown Sugar Tea

Method: Take 10 red dates, 1 egg, 20g of Danggui, and 30g of brown sugar. Place Danggui slices in a pot, add an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Set aside. In another pot, boil the egg in water until fully cooked. Remove the egg, briefly soak in cold water, peel the shell, and use a fork to lightly pierce the surface of the egg white. Place the peeled boiled egg back into the Danggui water, increase the heat, bring to a boil, then reduce to medium-low heat and continue to simmer for about 10 minutes. Add brown sugar and simmer until dissolved. Consume the egg and drink the tea.

Effect: Nourishes blood, regulates menstruation, and improves symptoms of irregular menstruation, scanty periods, and sallow complexion in women.
