Diet Tips for Liver Cancer Patients

1.Principles: Comprehensive Nutrition, Rational Cooking

Nutrition should be comprehensive, and cooking should be done rationally. The diet should be fresh, easily digestible, and nutritionally rich, meeting the nutritional requirements of patients. For example, supplement with eggs, fresh fish, lean meat, sour yogurt, soy milk, etc. Consider supplementing vitamins with fresh vegetables and fruits. Pay attention to choosing appropriate fats to aid in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Consider incorporating supportive therapeutic foods such as soft-shelled turtle, mushrooms, etc.

Food processing methods should be gentle, favoring boiling, steaming, and stewing over frying or frying hard and crispy foods, as patients with liver cancer often experience symptoms such as indigestion and loss of appetite. Hard, crispy, and spicy foods can cause severe complications such as gastrointestinal bleeding in liver cancer patients.

2.Dietary Recommendations for Different Liver Cancer Stages

After surgery, a diet rich in protein and vitamins is advisable, including eggs, pig liver, yellow croaker, sea bass, bananas, carrots, lemons, watermelon, etc. After radiotherapy, a diet that moistens the mouth, invigorates the spleen, and stimulates appetite is recommended. Foods like Chinese yam, hyacinth bean, Chinese water chestnut, pear, winter melon, grapes, sweet oranges, eggs, quail eggs, and bird's nest are suitable. After chemotherapy, foods that benefit qi, invigorate the spleen, nourish the blood, and detoxify are recommended, such as clear stewed soft-shelled turtle, crucian carp, animal liver, goose blood, eggs, winter melon, red dates, coix seed, Chinese yam, radish, lotus root, oranges, tomatoes, soybean sprouts, etc. In the late stage of liver cancer, a light, watery, easily digestible, appetite-enhancing, and nutritionally adequate diet is recommended. Foods such as adzuki beans, Chinese yam, coix seed, winter melon, watermelon, crucian carp, carrots, white radish, cucumber, bitter gourd, etc., are suitable.

3.Forbidden Foods
