Autumn Health for Liver Cancer Patients
Autumn Health for Liver Cancer Patients
1.Moisten the Lungs for Healthy Respiratory System
Autumn air affects the lungs, and liver cancer patients are more prone to symptoms like dry nasal passages, mouth, and skin. It's essential to nourish lung qi and moisten lung yin. Include foods that moisten dryness and nourish yin in the diet, such as snow pear, loquat, Chinese yam, tremella, jade bamboo, lily, etc. Stay hydrated by drinking at least 2500ml of water daily. Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption to prevent further irritation to the respiratory tract. Additionally, take precautions to prevent colds and flu by wearing masks outdoors and adjusting clothing layers with changing temperatures.
2.Foot Soaking for Improved Blood Circulation
Soaking feet helps to dispel cold, warm the body, prevent colds, and promote spleen health. It also soothes tendons, activates collaterals, and improves blood circulation, alleviating general discomfort. Foot soaking should be around 30 minutes, and the water temperature should be around 50-55°C.
3.Clear and Nourish for a Burden-Free Digestive System
Choose a clear and nourishing diet, starting with easily digestible and mild foods. Gradually introduce balanced nutrition, focusing on protein sources like poultry, fish, and milk. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), green foods benefit the liver. Incorporate green vegetables such as celery, green pepper, broccoli, cucumber, spinach, and kiwi into the diet.
4.Exercise for Overall Well-being
Maintain regular exercise to strengthen the body, enhance cardiovascular function, and boost immunity. Activities like Tai Chi, walking in the park, or hiking with family and friends are beneficial. Exercise caution to avoid getting chilled, and after sweating, avoid removing clothes immediately to prevent catching a cold. Warm-up exercises before physical activity are essential to prevent injuries.
5.Regular Check-ups to Monitor Tumor Progression
In the cooler weather, with improved mood, don't forget to schedule regular check-ups to detect any changes in the tumor and evaluate overall health. Liver cancer patients should undergo check-ups every 3-6 months within the first 2 years and every 6-12 months after that. Monitoring may include blood tests, viral load assessment, tumor markers, liver and kidney function, and imaging studies like CT or MRI. The frequency and specific tests may vary, so it's crucial to follow the guidance of the treating physician based on individual circumstances.
